The Campus Race to Zero Waste (CR2ZW) is an 8-week national competition against other universities to showcase our waste minimization and recycling efforts. CR2ZW is an opportunity to bring the SU community together while generating attention and spreading awareness for zero waste initiatives. SU competed in 3 categories this year, including the Per Capita Classic, Diversion, and One-Building Challenge.

In the Per Capita Classic, SU ranked 17th out of 96 universities with 16.159 lbs.

In the Diversion category SU ranked 22nd place out of 80 universities with a diversion rate of 42.824%.

In the One-Building Challenge, SU showcased the efforts of implementing a new office recycling initiative in Holloway Hall. By implementing Mini-Trashcans, the goal was to reduce the amount of recycling entering the waste stream and to reduce the usage of trash bags from office waste. This program reduced the number of recyclables entering the waste stream by 13.2% and reduced the usage of trash bags by 86% in Holloway Hall.
