Salisbury University’s eighth Giving Day in April 2024 was a resounding success, with Sea Gulls worldwide uniting to raise an impressive $504,580 in just 24 hours.

Alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends alike came together to give back to their favorite campus areas and showcase SU’s continued culture of philanthropy. Noteworthy achievements included a significant increase in student engagement and challenge gifts from leadership donors, plus an increase of over 25% in total dollars raised over 2023.

This was the Intramural Sports Program’s first year asking for support on Giving Day, raising $1,192.67 from 20 donors.

Intramural Sports Director Brandon Smithson shared the significance of this endeavor: “Intramural Sports chose to become involved with Giving Day to continue to build on the relationships with our students and alumni. We average over 2,750 student participants and 45 student-staff members each year, so our family is big! Our program culture is unmatched, and the love and care of one another really shows. We plan to spend the funds we raised on growing the number of sport officials, traveling to local and national regional competitions, and fostering professional development for students in the sport industry.”

Giving Day truly demonstrates how the value of one gift – combined with others – can make a difference for students.
