“The accomplishments of our alumni continue to impress me and make me proud to be a Sea Gull.”
Dear Fellow Alumni,
It has been a full year since I introduced myself as the new SU Alumni Association Board president. In the blink of an eye, another year has passed. This magazine is full of great stories sharing the successes of our alumni and the continued accolades that help tell the wonderful story of Salisbury University. The accomplishments of our alumni continue to impress me and make me proud to be a Sea Gull. It is also a reminder of the responsibility to make sure our current students have the tools they need to succeed.
There are many ways you can join me in helping to shape the success of our current students. You can speak to a class, host an intern at your business or invest in a scholarship – to name just a few. One of the ways that I have chosen to give back is through creating the Austin Whitehead Family Scholarship so current Perdue School of Business students can receive some relief from the cost of their education. If every alumnus would make sure Salisbury University was in the top three charities that they support, our Alma Mater would be able to do amazing things for students.
As President Lepre begins her third year at Salisbury University, you can feel the energy across campus. She continues reaching out to alumni with her attendance at SU On the Road alumni events and through publications like this, which update us on what is going on at SU, helping establish and strengthen a relationship with our alumni base. It is clear that she values alumni and friends of SU. I hope you will join me in attending an SU On the Road event soon.
The Office of Alumni Engagement is promoting a few new programs of note. For those multigenerational alumni families, there is now our Legacy Gull Society; and our Gulls of the Last Decade (GOLD) is aimed at those who have graduated in the last 10 years. These two programs join our Sea Gull Alumni Alliance, which has been formed to help alumni affinity groups obtain financial resources to engage other fellow alumni. All three programs are gaining popularity, so I encourage you to learn more about them.
Many of you know that Salisbury University’s 100th birthday is fast approaching. During the 2025-2026 academic year, SU will be celebrating its centennial in a number of ways. Planning is underway for a full year’s worth of activities that will celebrate our past and provide a glimpse into the future. Feel free to email the Alumni Office at alumni@salisbury.edu if you have any artifacts that you would like to donate.
