This year marks a significant milestone in the history of Salisbury University as it proudly celebrates its centennial anniversary.

On September 7, 1925, Salisbury University opened its doors as the Salisbury Normal School, then a training ground for the Eastern Shore of Maryland teachers.

Almost a century later, the school has adapted to meet changes in education, technology and society, and meet the evolving needs of its students while maintaining a commitment to academic excellence and community service.

This is why SU is among the nation’s top public schools and best colleges in both U.S. News & World Report and the Princeton Review rankings, to name a few.

To mark this momentous occasion, we are organizing a series of events and displays throughout the year. Starting with recognizing the graduating Class of 2025 and ending with a time capsule filled with images from the Centennial, events will span the year and involve not only the Salisbury University faculty, staff and students, alumni and parents, but also the greater Salisbury community. There will be an extensive collection of photographs, memorabilia, articles and videos available with memories of faculty, staff and alumni shared. A Centennial dedicated web page, containing commemorative content and event schedules, as well as displays across campus will be created, with several opportunities to share your Salisbury story.

The University-wide Centennial Steering Committee is hard at work, so keep an eye out as we roll out more highlights, event information and limited-edition commemoratives to officially launch the year’s programming this fall.

As the school embarks on this exciting journey, it invites everyone – past and present – to join in the celebration of a century of learning, growth and community spirit. Here’s to another hundred years of making a difference!
