Members of the Campus Community,

The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced an enhanced risk for severe weather in Wicomico County and surrounding areas from 3-11 p.m. Monday, June 26.

Potential threats include damaging wind gusts from 60-75 mph that could result in significant tree and power line damage, localized flash flooding, hail averaging up to 2 inches in diameter, and the possibility of isolated tornados.

Please take precautions, including securing any loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, and avoid driving during hazardous conditions. Should these threats emerge locally, take cover immediately, making sure to stay away from windows. If shelter is not available in the event of a tornado, quickly get to the lowest lying area possible, such as a drainage ditch, and remain in place until the threat has passed.

SU remains open. Please monitor the SU website, as well as the University’s official FacebookTwitterand Instagram accounts, for any updates.
