SALISBURY, MD—Salisbury University hosts the Brown and Church Summer Carillon Series of concerts on its Samuel R. Brown and William D. Church Carillon, at the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons, this summer. 

Guest carillonneurs include Laura Ellis on Thursday, June 29; Annie Gao on Saturday, July 8; Doug Gefvert on Thursday, August 3; and Jesse Ratcliffe on Friday, August 11.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. The community is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy music from The Square or Perdue Hall Lawn, both adjacent to the Guerrieri Academic Commons. 

Ellis, associate director of the University of Florida School of Music, is serving her second term as president of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. She has performed solo recitals at the University of Sydney in Australia and at the National Carillon in the Australian capital of Canberra.

Gao, a 2021 graduate of Yale University, began studying the carillon while at Yale after years of piano. She currently is studying as the Bok Tower Blanchard Carillon Fellow in Lake Wales, FL.

Gefvert is the carillonneur of the Washington Memorial National Carillon in the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge, PA. Gefvert, who composes and arranges for the carillon, performs in the United States and Canada.

Ratcliffe serves as the music director at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Frederick, MD. A native of West Virginia, he was the first recipient of the Performance Diploma from the North American Carillon School in Springfield, IL.
