Dear Faculty, The Salisbury University Faculty Senate Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee (FARC) invites nominations for the 2024 University of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Awards. These awards for distinguished performance by exemplary faculty bring recognition to Salisbury University and add to our reputation for excellence. There are five award categories focusing on: 1) Teaching, 2) Scholarship or Research, 3) Creative Activity, 4) Public Service, and 5) Mentoring. Please see the official Call for Nominations for more information. Please consider nominating a colleague or yourself for this prestigious award. Note the Regents’ eligibility standard – “the faculty member must have been a USM (University System of Maryland) faculty member for at least five years.” The period of performance to be evaluated is the three-year period ending on June 30 of the year in which the nomination is made. Please refer to the Call for Nominations document for additional eligibility criteria. As the designated Institutional Faculty Nominating Committee (IFNC), the Salisbury University Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee will select nominees for the Regents Faculty Awards Committee (RFAC) to consider. Stage 1 For preliminary consideration on campus by the SU Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee, the nominee will submit a packet totaling no more than five pages. It will include: -A summary resume -A one-page essay from the nominee describing how they have contributed to excellence in the category of the nomination -A letter of recommendation from the department/school chairperson, director, or dean -Brief documentation of exemplary achievement (please refer to the BOR Faculty Award Guidelines for category definitions and further details about standards of excellence) Stage 2 Applicants selected as finalists by the committee will be notified electronically and will be asked to expand their files to a maximum of 20 pages (the “Certification of Eligibility for Award” will be added by the President’s Office). Please refer to the Board of Regents Award Nomination Portfolio Checklist to ensure that all documentation is provided. Since there will only be a few days’ notice, candidates may want to work on the expanded Stage 2 application files before receiving approval. Things to consider while creating your packet: -Documents saved in pdf format (born-digital strongly recommended) -High resolution images -No pagination required -If you have to scan a document, please scan it in color and then save as a pdf -Packet submitted as one pdf file For more information, please refer to the official website. If you are interested in applying, please email Randall Groth (regroth@salisbury.edu) by Friday, September 29, indicating your interest and in which category are you interested. Applicants will then be added to the MyClasses site that the Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee will be using to help guide them in preparing their applications. Stage 1 applications are due to the committee by Friday, October 13. Feedback will be provided and Stage 2 applications are due Friday, October 27. Final submitted applications are due by Friday, November 10. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. We look forward to receiving applications!
