Dr. Herman Manakyan accompanied the student managers of SU’s Sea Gull Fund on a site visit to Vanguard’s world headquarters at their Malvern, PA campus. The Vanguard group is among the top asset management companies in the world, with approximately $8 Trillion of assets under management, and approximately 19,000 employees worldwide. During the visit the students enjoyed presentations by equity and fixed income managers as well as getting a chance to tour the trading floor, ending the day with an interactive meeting with Vanguard’s Human Resources professionals.
The Sea Gull Fund is one of the longest tenured student managed investment funds in the US, dating back to September 2000 when it became the first undergraduate student-managed fund in the USM. The approximately
$1.8 M privately funded portfolio is managed entirely by undergraduate students and is overseen by the SU Foundation and the Department of Economics and Finance Advisory Council.
