Bella Shade is a junior pursuing dual degrees in communications on the public relations track and political science. She is the current communications intern for PACE at Salisbury University. PACE is dedicated to being a non-partisan institute that cultivates democratic values throughout SU’s campus. PACE has provided students like Bella with hands-on experiences related to public affairs and civic engagement. Throughout her time with PACE, Bella has been able to develop various stories that connect to the programs that PACE oversees. She has spent extensive time interviewing people, writing stories, and developing flyers for upcoming projects on campus.
Bella has been able to complete this newsletter while balancing her schoolwork and extracurriculars on campus: being the President of the Panhellenic Council, a member of Phi Mu, and the secretary for Salisbury’s PRSSA chapter. Completing this practicum has been completely rewarding for her to strengthen her writing skills and grow her love for politics and public relations.
Throughout her time with PACE, Bella has shared the amazing experience she had: “Working with PACE was an incredibly rewarding experience for me to build the necessary skills needed for my future career. I have been able to see growth in my writing and networking skills throughout this process that I will take with me following graduation.”
The next communication intern will be Maya Brannon, a Salisbury University student majoring in communications on the public relations track with a minor in sociology. She currently lives in St. Michaels, Maryland she she works full time as the Head of Digital Marketing for St. Michael’s Tourism LLC and the Social Media Manager for Foxy’s Harbor Grille. Following graduation, Maya hopes to continue to work with St. Michael’s business using the skills that she gains from this internship!
While Maya prepares for this practicum, she shares: “My goal is to bring more exposure and engagement to PACE events and assist in introducing a new audience to the organization.”
Maya will be working on adapting PACE’s social media platforms to be more engaging for individuals in the Salisbury area.
