This is a pre-semester experience for any transfer and incoming first year student looking to make meaningful relationships with their peers, faculty, and staff of campus resources. Powerful Connections is a peer mentor-based program that fosters an environment that values diversity while encouraging an appreciation and respect for differences. This is a golden opportunity for those who want to maximize their college experience in and outside of the classroom.
New students are paired with peer mentors who are current students so a sense of support and familiarity with the campus community is established before classes even begin!
During the week before classes, students get acquainted with the staff members of student resource departments including; the Center for Student Achievement, Counseling Center, Financial Aid, Disability Resource Center, Math Emporium, SU CARES, and they’ll even get to meet their Academic Advisors and the Deans of their school!
