Tara Gladden

Dear Campus Community,

Salisbury University is pleased to welcome our new Cultural Affairs and Engagement Specialist, Tara Gladden, who will begin on January 24.

Gladden is a cultural producer, curator, interdisciplinary artist, and educator. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Boston University, and her Master of Fine Arts in Performance and Interactive Media Arts from Brooklyn College.

Gladden served as Director and Curator for the Kohl Gallery at Washington College (2019-2023) where she also taught Digital Photography, Video/New Media, Environmental Art, and mentored students through the Senior Capstone Exhibition. She is a previous Salisbury University Art Galleries Manager (2014-2019). At SU, Gladden also taught in the Music, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Art departments.

Gladden got her curatorial start as a graduate student in New York City and for the past 10 years has been crafting exhibitions, performances, special events, and diverse community engagement programs in higher education. At Washington College her interdisciplinary approach to directing and curating the Kohl Gallery included collaborations with the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience, the Rose O’Neill Literary House, the Center for Environment and Society, and the McLain Program for Environmental Studies.

She serves on the board of the Hedgelawn Foundation and is a member of the curatorial committee for the Adkins Arboretum Art Program.

As an artist, her practice merges conceptual, multimedia (sound and visual practices), and performance strategies. She works both independently and in close collaboration with her artistic partner and husband, David Gladden, SU Associate Professor of Art. Their work has been programmed and exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally in festivals, private and nonprofit galleries, established and DIY performance venues.

She is excited to return to SU and looks forward to working collaboratively across the disciplinary spectrum as Cultural Affairs and Engagement Specialist.

Sincerely,
Fulton School of Liberal Arts
