Last year, Salisbury University placed in the top 25 percent in the 2023 Campus Race to Zero Waste National 8-week Competition. SU competed in the “Per Capita Classic” with an estimated 13.109 lbs per capita of recycling. The 2023 national competition cut out approximately 205 million pounds of waste that got donated, composted, and recycled.
SU is signed up to compete in the 2024 competition, where we hope to do well in the “Diversion”, “Per Capita Classic”, and “One-Building Challenge” categories. The competition begins on January 29th and ends on March 23rd. Help us to increase SU’s diversion rate across campus and measure the impacts of focusing heavily on one building’s recycling initiatives (Holloway Hall).
