Dear Colleagues,
Salisbury University is proud to announce that we have partnered with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to further our commitment to student success and invest in our most vital asset: our people.
ACUE’s mission is to ensure student success through quality instruction by providing courses, pathways, and certifications endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). Thanks to funding from the Strategic Innovation Fund, this year 60 faculty will have an opportunity to enroll in the comprehensive ACUE course on Effective Teaching Practices. This asynchronous course allows participants to learn at their own pace alongside a cohort of peers from our university. Faculty will learn evidence-based practices proven to boost student persistence and completion; these practices also cultivate a greater sense of belonging among students, supporting our university’s mission.
The comprehensive Effective Teaching Practices course contains four units that together take approximately 25 weeks to complete, and include:
· Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment (7 weeks, practices for equitable access and student persistence)
· Promoting Active Learning (6 weeks, active learning techniques to engage students)
· Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners (6 weeks, motivate and empower student learning)
· Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses (6 weeks, aligned assessments and experiences for clarity and equity)
Please visit our ACUE Partnership Portal to learn more about eligibility, course descriptions, incentives, and to apply.
I strongly urge faculty to apply for this opportunity to advance your professional skillset. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Jessica Clark for more information.
Thank you,
Laurie Couch
