Stop by Henson 107 any time between 1-6pm on Feb 8 as the Departments of Political Science and Sociology and PACE offer an information session with the Friends Committee on National Legislation, a Quaker lobbying organization on Capitol Hill that works on peace and justice issues. The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) offers skills-building workshops, training, and paid professional opportunities for young adults interested in gaining experience in advocacy and lobbying. They offer three paid opportunities for young adults. These are the Program Assistant Fellowship, an 11-month fellowship for post-graduates, a two-month Summer Internship Program, and a 10-month community organizing program called the Advocacy Corps. They also host a young adult lobbying conference called Spring Lobby Weekend each March. Hundreds of young adults from across the country come together to learn about lobbying and then go out and lobby on Capitol Hill. This year focuses on the passage of the bipartisan Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies in the United States Act (S.1723).
