It is with great pleasure that the SU Libraries recognize Krispen Laird as the February-March winner of the SU Libraries Information Literacy Partner of the Month Award.

Erin Weber, Research and Instructional Services Librarian, nominated Krispen, writing:
“I’d like to nominate Krispen Laird for our work revamping the BIOL 101 information literacy component. Krispen was key in introducing over 500 students to the value of library resources and quality information. She completely rewrote the BIOL 101 Lab Manual chapter on Evaluating Sources of Information to include concepts such as primary literature in the sciences, reading a scholarly article, and fact-checking strategies. She also stewarded the biology lab instructors through our revamped information literacy week that included a new scavenger hunt and expanded ScienceDirect research tutorial. Krispen is a proponent of information literacy in the sciences and ensured our
“train-the-trainer” model was truly successful.

In addition to the recognition, the SU Libraries will purchase a book in a field of Krispen’s choosing to add to the Libraries’ collection in her honor.

Congratulations, Ms. Laird, and thank you for working with the SU Libraries!
