SALISBURY, MD—Students at Salisbury University now have the opportunity to enhance their resumes with experience in organizational leadership and the societal impacts of consumerism thanks to new minors in management and social entrepreneurship.
Scheduled to begin in fall 2024, the minors, housed in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, are geared toward any students who desire business-savvy supplements to their education.
“Adding these new minors allows practical and innovative management techniques to become more accessible to students across disciplines who may not have considered business or management courses before,” said Dr. Nitya Singh, associate professor and chair of management who oversees the new programs. “We want SU students embarking on their careers to have management experience as they climb the ranks through their fields and one day find themselves managers, executives and leaders within their organizations.”
Courses in the minors are strategic collections from the current management major that are tailored to each specialty.
Students in the management minor will experience business management and leadership simulations and have the opportunity to work with organizations and real-world scenarios in the community to practice what’s taught in the classroom.
Students in the social entrepreneurship minor will focus on producing positive impacts on the local community, society and world. The minor reflects a strong commitment to transform business education for positive social impact, which has become a new formula for business success.
