Hometown: Pasadena, MD

Major: Business Economics

Minor: Information Systems

Fun fact about me:  My favorite singer is Chris Brown

Name of internship host and location: BEACON (Business Economic and Community Outreach Network), in the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University.

When did you complete your internship? Fall 2024

How did you find it? When walking to class in the business school

What was your role and/or some duties? Undergraduate Research Intern. My duties include researching relative impact studies, economic indicators, and economic development data, for comparison when reporting information to a variety of organizations and decision makers. I collaborate with clients (including private, public, and non-profit organizations) to address their needs and develop a plan for what data we want to collect, what population we want to target, and identify metrics we would like to measure. I recently completed the July 2024 Summary Report for the Eastern Shore Business Sentiment Survey, where I compared recent results to the December 2023 Business Sentiment Survey and included my own research to provide conclusive insights to our actual economic status.

Why this particular internship or organization? This organization offers a wide variety of tasks and skills within their operations which are super beneficial for me to learn. Their goal is to provide information and enhance informed decision making.

What was your experience like (favorite part)? My favorite part is that I always work on something new every day, bouncing from project to project. The time flies, but I’m still intellectually challenged! I love how I get to meet people while helping them address their needs and achieve their goals. It was really fun to attend outreach event and meet those who have been impacted by BEACON!

How has this experience helped you? This internship has enhanced my confidence and professionalism tremendously. It has helped me understand the process of business routines and how to uphold expectations. I especially believe it enhanced my social skills since I often collaborate with clients and attend outreach events. What I’ve learned is that you can measure almost anything!

What’s next for you? After I graduate in Spring 2025, I am open to working full-time and I am going to obtain a master’s degree. I would either like to work as a graduate assistant or work for the government in D.C., while obtaining my masters.

Advice for other students: Get involved in your community sooner than later! It will help you build an endless network of support and stand out to future employers. Make sure to explore all your career options within your field so that you don’t miss out on forgone passions!

Kudos to PSB: For encouraging me to gain professional experience and explore my field which ultimately helped me discover a new passion.
