What was your role and/or some duties? Data Analytics and Underwriting Intern. My duties included forming benchmarking and budgeting analyses for clients using actuarial software. And also assisting sales executives to evaluate, determine and recommend alternative coverages, pricing, options, and plan design changes based on analysis of available plan elements and on client/prospect goals.
Why this particular internship or organization? AssuredPartners is a large insurance broker across the country, and I believed it would be a great first step into pursuing the career path I plan to work in.
What was your experience like (favorite part)? My favorite part was learning the extensive ins and outs of insurance and becoming familiar with the process of forming plans for each individual client.
How has this experience helped you? This internship has significantly enhanced my data analysis skills and deepened my understanding of how data can be leveraged to drive business success. It also confirmed my interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
What’s next for you? I hope to continue my studies and graduate in spring 2025, while also looking for future full-time opportunities after college to further pursue my career hopes.
Advice for other students: Don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone and take on roles that challenge you. You might discover a passion for an area you hadn’t considered before.
