On behalf of the President’s Office, Staff Senate and the Office of Human Resources, we are pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 2025 Meritorious Staff Award. The Meritorious Staff Award allows Salisbury University to recognize recently retired staff who have made noteworthy or extraordinary contributions to the campus community while advancing the University’s values, goals and objectives. Now open for nominations, we encourage staff to consider nominating retirees who have made an impact on the University during their careers.
Eligibility Criteria for the Meritorious Staff Award:
Considerations for eligibility for Meritorious Staff status include:
- Full-time exempt or non-exempt PIN or C2 status retired employee.
- At least ten (10) years of distinguished full-time Salisbury University employment.
- A record of noteworthy contributions or extraordinary commitment to the University throughout an eligible employee’s career.
- Retirement from Salisbury University in good standing.
- Retired during the previous two (2) calendar years.
Additional Highlights:
- Any SU colleague may nominate an eligible retired staff employee; however, we strongly encourage supervisors and managers to nominate deserving retired team members.
- Program details and the nomination web form can be found on the HR website under the Employee Recognition Program.
- Nominations may be made for eligible employees who have retired during the previous two calendar years only (2023 and 2024 for the current award cycle).
- Meritorious Staff Award winners receive benefits including lifetime privileges to the Guerrieri Academic Commons and Bookstore, a discounted University Fitness Center membership, employee meal pricing in the Dining Commons and free campus parking. They are also invited to attend SU employee, cultural, academic and athletic events.
- Awards will be granted with the conferring of Meritorious Staff designation and award presentation by the President during the annual Faculty and Staff Service Awards reception.

The deadline to submit nominations for the Meritorious Staff Award is March 10, 2025. Eligible nominations will be considered, and recipient(s) will be announced at the annual Faculty and Staff Service Awards reception to be held in April.
