Dr. Jon Andes

On November 5, Dr. Jon Andes, professor of practice in the Department of Leadership and Literacy Studies, was re-elected to a four-year term on the Worcester County Board of Education, representing District 3. With a distinguished 50-year career in public education, Dr. Andes has served as a high school teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent, bringing a wealth of practical experience to his current roles.

At SU, Dr. Andes teaches graduate courses in educational leadership to prepare future administrators by integrating leadership theory with real-world applications. Selected as Maryland’s Superintendent of the Year in 2001, he is known for his commitment to student success and teacher support. His recent re-election underscores his dedication to advancing educational standards and policies within Worcester County Public Schools. Through his combined roles as board member and professor, Dr. Andes continues to make a substantial impact on the educational landscape.
