Hello Sea Gulls,

Salisbury University will be participating in the Maryland Climate Teach-In during the week of April 13-19.  As part of the Teach-In, a community kayaking event will be held at SU’s environmental field research and education station, the Nanticoke River Center, on Friday, April 18th from 1:00pm-5:00pm.  The kayaking trip will be led by Chris Homeister, Director of Campus Sustainability, and Shane Hall, Environmental Studies Chair/Associate Professor.  Students will explore the tidal waters of the Nanticoke River as they travel through Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.  The group will discuss climate change, environmental sustainability, the impacts of sea level rise on the Delmarva Peninsula, and overall flora and fauna found throughout the paddle.  The event is limited to 20 students.  Spots will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.  The group will meet at the GSU/Dogwood Villages parking lot and depart from campus at 1:00pm.  This will be a casual paddle.  No prior kayaking experience is required.  Interested students should contact Chris Homeister at cshomeister@salisbury.edu or by phone at 410-546-2496 to reserve your spot today.
