On Friday, April 11, the Information Systems and Operations Management Department, in partnership with the Info Systems Connect Club, hosted “IS INFO THE ONE?”—a high-impact event designed to connect current students with successful Perdue School alumni working in the tech industry.
Held in the Perdue Hall Atrium, the event welcomed over 50 students in attendance, all eager to explore how their degree—whether in Information Systems or another business discipline—could lead to rewarding careers in cybersecurity, data analytics, IT operations, and more.
“We wanted students to not only explore where INFO can take them, but to hear it directly from those who’ve been in their shoes,” said Amanda Liang, administrative assistant for the department.
🎓 Diverse Student Engagement
Students came from a wide range of majors, highlighting INFO’s growing influence across disciplines. While many attendees were Information Systems students, the event also attracted those majoring in Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Management, International Business, and even Psychology and Mathematics—many of whom expressed interest in pairing INFO with their primary field through a major, minor, or course focus.
👥 Meet the Alumni Speakers
Students had the opportunity to rotate among roundtable sessions, speaking directly with alumni and asking questions about certifications, early career decisions, graduate roles, and working in the Mid-Atlantic tech space. The event featured alumni from top employers such as Northrop Grumman, Perdue Farms, KPMG, Analytica, and others.

To encourage meaningful, informal discussion, students were treated to complimentary breakfast and lunch, creating a relaxed atmosphere for learning and networking. Alumni generously offered not just career guidance, but reflections on their own time at Salisbury—and how INFO helped launch their careers.
“IS INFO THE ONE?” was more than an event—it was a reflection of the department’s commitment to career readiness, alumni engagement, and experiential learning. As technology continues to transform business, the department remains focused on preparing students to lead in analytics, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and beyond. Many students expressed dual-interest or hybrid paths (e.g., Accounting and Information Systems, Finance with INFO Minor, Management | Information Systems), indicating that students are seeing the value of pairing INFO with other disciplines.
