Stephora Alberi, Computer Science Major, Math and Data Science minors (TRIO), has won the Boren Scholarship to travel to Estonia, the home of European cybersecurity and a new space cybersecurity testing ground in Estonia, to study Russian. The country also has an AI policy named after one of its traditional figures from lore, the Kratt, so they are advancing computer science fully in national policy. Stephora wants to be a research scientist working with AI – in an area such as the US Space Force, NASA or another similar organization. She was an Alternate for the DAAD-Rise last year, won a Be.Girl Scholarship for studying in Estonia and a USM Board of Regents award in 2024. She is also currently a semifinalist for a Fulbright to Estonia to engage in research on the first Estonian space rover.

This is a very competitive award that is worth 25,000 for study abroad outside western Europe and guarantees a job with the federal government. https://www.borenawards.org/  This is a huge achievement and we are so proud of her!
