library course enhancement grant winners Drs. Jennifer Kruglinski and Viktoria Basham

The SU Libraries have awarded two course enhancement grants for the 2025-26 academic year. Course enhancement grants support faculty in collaborating with librarians to revise existing courses or design new courses which 1) incorporate research and information-literacy skills such as finding and evaluating appropriate sources, effectively using sources, and/or engaging in disciplinary dialogues; 2) make use of library collections and/or services in creative and substantial ways beyond the “one-shot” instruction session; and 3) integrate an appropriate library faculty member as a partner in the course in some way.

Dr. Jennifer Kruglinski will collaborate with Natasha Finnegan to deepen information literacy in ART 203: Introduction to Art History ca. 1400—present. Additionally, Dr. Kruglinski will work with Jen Pulsney and Ian Post to connect students with local and special collections in the Nabb Center including facsimiles, woodblock prints and daguerreotype photographs. The project aims to “benefit students’ observations about primary source objects, their finding and deployment of sources in their research, as well as their observation of and engagement with images and artworks.”

Dr. Viktoria Basham will collaborate with Katie Delezenski, Jen Pulsney and Ian Post to support students as they research “mysteries” and produce documentary films “incorporating their own creative explanation of the ‘mystery’ using their knowledge and understanding of vampire lore” in HONR 311: Vampires: Lore and Reality. The course will involve cross-disciplinary research, organizing and sharing research materials, and applying their research to the creation of a tangible work within the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.
