Earlier this year, the Seidel School of Education teamed up with Worcester County Public Schools to join the Deans for Impact Learning by Scientific Design Network. The premise of this network is for educator preparation programs and school partners to work closely together to “redesign coursework and clinical experiences around our best scientific understanding of how students learn” using a cognitive science lens.
After several months of planning and learning together, Showell Elementary School hosted a full-day professional learning launch session on September 18 to kick off this work. In turn, the Seidel School of Education hosted an additional professional learning session on October 25 that included a focus on developing a theory of action and pilot mapping for the spring 2025 semester. We look forward to rolling out this initiative over the next several years.
