The Green Bandana Project (TGBP) is a new volunteer program at Salisbury University looking for Student Members designed to raise awareness about suicide, reduce the stigmatization of mental health, and connect peers in need with resources to support their well-being. We are looking for students who are passionate about mental health and want to make an impact on their campus and the community!
After participating in the orientation and gatekeeper training, Student Members of TGBP will display a green bandana to signal to others that they are a safe person to approach for help; when approached by someone in need, Student Members are expected to engage in conversation with peers to provide support, refer peers to local and national crisis resources, and empower them to seek mental health treatment. It must be emphasized that Student Members do NOT assess, diagnose, counsel, or intervene in any manner; this is important for both the safety of Student Members and peers looking for treatment.
Orientation/gatekeeper training is expected to be available for sign-up after Spring Break! If you are interested in becoming a Student Member, please use the following link to register for TGBP and join SU’s School Network page: https://green-bandana-project.mn.co/share/y7c59MhakQU1yS1A?utm_source=manual
