At the core of our conference theme is the question: What happens when students and their collaborators—peers, faculty, community members, librarians, and more—drive knowledge creation? We invite proposals that contribute to this conversation and showcase innovative approaches to open educational practices that empower learners to be active creators of knowledge and contributors to a more inclusive and equitable world.

About the Summit:
Date: Friday, December 1, 2023
Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm ET
Location: Salisbury University
Special Networking Reception: Thursday, November 30, 6:00 – 7:30 pm

This one-day summit will bring together educators, students, librarians, instructional designers, and administrators from across Maryland postsecondary institutions to explore the dynamic world of open pedagogy. From philosophical discussions about power in the classroom to practical strategies for implementing open educational practices, this event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of open education. For the event, we are framing open pedagogy as an approach to teaching and learning that emphasizes the use of open educational resources (OER) and practices that foster equity, inclusion, collaboration, and innovation, with the goal of learners exercising agency as creators of knowledge and contributors to the wider world.

*All concurrent sessions will be held in person at SU*
