On Friday, March 8th, 2024, the Department of Economics and Finance, Perdue School of Business hosted the 2024 Financial Planning Professional Connections Event. During this event, five highly regarded finance companies: Comprehensive Financial Solutions, Inc., InFocus Financial Advisors Inc., John G. Ullman & Associates, Inc., PKS Investment Advisors LLC, and WealthSpire Advisors participated in a panel discussion, presented about their companies, and interviewed students for internships and entry-level jobs in the financial planning and wealth management field.
During the panel discussion, Robert S. Jeter II, CFP®, CRPC®, Vice President & Financial Advisor from InFocus Financial Advisors, Inc., Kimberly S. Magaha, CFP®, AIF®, Senior Vice President and Advisor from WealthSpire Advisors, Jason D. Nickerson, CFP®, EA, President & Chief Operating Officer from John G. Ullman & Associates, Inc., and Michael J. Sise, CFP®, ChFC®, CPFA®, AIF®, CRPC® from Comprehensive Financial Solutions, Inc. discussed topics such as the importance of financial planning, attractiveness and misconceptions about the financial planning industry and more. Students were able to learn the importance of getting the CFP® designation, the psychology of financial planning, how to separate oneself from others coming out of college, and the fact that financial planning is more than just about numbers; it is about the people it is helping.
After the panel discussion, each company gave a presentation on themselves and what makes them unique, as well as the positions they are interviewing students for. Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to connect with the professionals from each company, and to interview for internships and entry level jobs. The 2024 Financial Planning Professional Connections Event was a success, thanks to support from the SU alumni, professionals, and companies from the community. Many students benefited from the event from the powerful connections that were made and the wisdom that was passed on
