SALISBURY, MD—From feeding families in need to helping animals find good homes and more, non-profit organizations throughout Maryland are fulfilling their missions thanks to the generosity of Salisbury University employees.
Faculty and staff at SU donated thousands of dollars during last year’s Maryland Charity Campaign, “From Mountain to Shore — Maryland Strong,” upholding the institution’s reputation as one of Maryland’s most generous state agencies.
In return, SU recently was recognized with the campaign’s Highest Increase in Monetary Contributions Award, presented annually to the state department or university with the highest year-over-year increase based on percentage. This was SU’s third year receiving the honor.
In addition, for the fourth year, SU received the Highest Percent of Goal Award, recognizing the University as the agency exceeding its state-designated goal by the most. This year’s total represented 181% of SU’s goal.
“The SU family gave anywhere from $5-$1,000 in individual donations, and that is something to be very proud of,” said Sherry Maykrantz, SU’s Maryland Charity Campaign chair since 2017. “Every year I look forward to breaking another goal, and we couldn’t’ do that without the generosity of our dedicated faculty and staff.”
The Maryland Charity Campaign is a workplace charitable giving program that offers state employees and eligible retirees the opportunity to conveniently and securely contribute to more than 1,000 charities throughout Maryland. The initiative raises some $2 million annually.
