Name: Aron Bursztyn
Major: Business Economics
Minor: Finance
Fun Fact About me: I am on the men’s tennis team here at SU
Name of Internship host and location: Lloyd Harbor Capital Management, in Cold Spring Harbor, NY.
When did you complete your internship: Summer 2024
How did you find it: My mom was reaching out to her network to see if anyone was hiring. One of her friend’s son in law open to hiring an intern, and put me in contact. Ultimately, he hired me for the summer.
Role/Duties: Investment Strategy Intern. My duties included researching portfolios within other private equity and venture capital firms, understanding and distributing data from our company’s earnings, taking notes during meeting, editing fact sheets and investment cases for their ETF company (Range ETFs), and working on various presentations.
Why this internship: This company gave me the experience of working for a small firm and the benefits that come with it. Working for a small firm allowed me to create meaningful relationship with my coworkers, making it a great environment for me to learn in.
My experience: My favorite part of this internship was learning about their ETF sector that I had no prior knowledge of. Another great part about this internship was the people I worked with. They were always preaching for my success and were always teaching me new information every day.
How has this experience helped me: This internship has taught me what the professional world is like. Everyone in the firm is very goal oriented and it showed me how being a team player is vital to the business world. This internship also boosted my confidence in interviews because whenever I get questions about former work, I am always proud to talk about my experience with Lloyd Harbor Capital Management.
What’s Next: I am currently a junior looking for internships for Summer 2025 but will potentially return to Lloyd Harbor Capital Management if it is the right move for me.
Advice for other Students: Networking is key. Getting a job in the business world, especially in finance, is all about who you know. Make as many connections as you can because someone will always point you in the correct direction or know someone who is looking to hire. I also recommend being involved in extracurricular activities to use as a talking point/icebreaker when meeting professionals in the business world.
